TeamArrange for DCPVL
"It's great to finally have a single interface with a centralized database for registration, payment, scheduling, scores/standings, draft and team chat."
- Marc Laplante
- Director of Players, DCPVL
DC Pride Volleyball League (DCPVL) uses a draft system to form teams for 400 players across 6 divisions. After registration, new players can show off their skills to captains before the draft at one of the Skills Exhibition sessions.
TeamArrange has streamlined DCPVL's league operations, and unified all the different applications we used to run the league. We are a non-profit run completely by volunteers. It has saved us Board members countless hours of effort on the front end, and continues to save time each week, not to mention reducing the chance of human errors in transcribing.
Here's a summary of the huge impact TeamArrange has had on DCPVL's operations.
Before TeamArrange
- Previous registration platform crashed during peak registration times
- After registration, exported to a spreadsheet
Using TeamArrange
- Able to handle large volume of registrants in a short time (first 100 in 2 minutes)
- Everything is centralized, no need to export
Before TeamArrange
- Players signed up in shared spreadsheet
- Board takes pictures of skills exhibition participants
Using TeamArrange
- Sign up through TeamArrange
- All players have a profile picture
Before TeamArrange
- List of players provided to captains (registration output spreadsheet)
- Board spent lots of time each season preparing the spreadsheet used to perform the Draft
- Captains weren't able to view players and stats independently, but had to ask the draft organizer to do so on their turn
Using TeamArrange
- List of players accessible (self-serve) to captains in TeamArrange
- Draft performed and completed in TeamArrange, requiring no additional preparation
- Captains can research before and during the draft through their own view
- Draft Admin can drag and drop selected players into team, and they automatically display to their preferred position, allowing captains to view their roster and other captains' roster
Before TeamArrange
- DCPVL shared player emails with each captain individually
Using TeamArrange
- Team Chat automatically populated in TeamArrange once teams are finalized
Before TeamArrange
- Prepared in a spreadsheet, then uploaded to DCPVL's website
- Had to develop formulas in Excel to ensure schedule fairness
Using TeamArrange
- Created then published (partially or in whole) within TeamArrange
- Built-in stats allow quick analysis of schedule fairness as we build it
- Players can view personalized schedule
Before TeamArrange
- Scores entered by reffing team on a paper sheet, then signed by playing team captains
- Board then typed scores into a spreadsheet to calculate standings
- Standings were output and posted to DCPVL's website within 2 days
Using TeamArrange
- Scores entered by reffing team; captains can validate through TeamArrange
- Players can view scores and standings instantaneously
Before TeamArrange
- Very little support
Using TeamArrange
- Quick response and resolution
As a Player, I love that scores are entered by the reffing team directly in TeamArrange after each game. Playing teams can then validate, and standings are instantly live.
As a Captain, we used TeamArrange to conduct our draft. This was a major improvement, where we could see a real-time list of remaining players, sort by position, look at players' pictures when we can't recall names.... Every captain loved the new interface, and the draft was 20% faster.
As an Admin (Director of Players), it's great to finally have a single interface for registration, payment, scheduling, scores/standings, draft and team chat.
It's been a pleasure working with the TeamArrange development team, as the platform was being customized for DCPVL. Moving forward, the time, effort and frustration saved by using TeamArrange will enable Board members to focus on other aspects like growth, inclusion, accessibility and community engagement. DCPVL is extremely grateful for this partnership.
